A Legend Gone

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 28, 2008, 8:40 PM
Michael Turner...

...a talent taken too soon.

It wasn't long that I knew about the amazing artist Michael Turner. I saw his art in magazines like Wizard and on the covers and pages of amazing comics like Spawn, Witchblade, Tomb Raider, and Fathom. His art was an early inspiration for me and helped me develop the style I have today.

I, like so many others, was a fan of his creations. I wish I'd gotten any sort of chance to speak to him because I knew I would have many questions as an aspiring artist myself. I held out for a chance to meet him, along with many other admired artists, at some convention so I could show him my art and hear words of advice. Yeah, I know that's big dreaming for someone like me, but there are probably thousands of other hopefuls like myself who had these same ideas.

So it came as a shock to me when I found journals from artists like ~seangordonmurphy, honoring the memory of this great artist. He led a hard fight against cancer, but unfortunately didn't make it.

He will be greatly missed.

Well poo. Michael Turner's covers were bloody amazing. He truly will be missed
Wow. This truly is depressing news. He was one of my favorite comic artists of all time... one of the best at female form.

He will definitely be missed, there's no doubt. Talent like that is rare.

Dude... 'Chinaman' is not the preferred nomenclature.
